Cathay Pacific To Axe Their Pilot Base In Canada, Reviewing Australia and New Zealand

Cathay Pacific is reported to shut its pilot base in Canada, while those in Australia and New Zealand are also under review for closure amid a traffic slump and route cuts.

The closure of these bases will affect several hundred pilot jobs and comes on the heels of Cathay already closing their four North American cabin crew bases last year, axing 450 jobs.

Southwest Airlines Buy & Gift Rapid Rewards Points Up To 75% Bonus Through May 28, 2021

Southwest Airlines has launched its first Rapid Rewards points sale of 2021 that is valid for purchases made until January 27.

You can buy 60,000 Rapid Rewards points in a transaction before any possible bonuses, which is also the daily maximum. Southwest doesn’t limit the number of points you can purchase in a calendar year.

Radisson Rewards Americas earlier this week released their changes to the award categories that will take place in mid-June (read more here and here).

The US Government required Radisson to split its operations due Chinese Government owning the hotel company through Jing Jiang (read more here and here) and keeping the data of US consumers separate.

British Airways Gold Guest List-Package Received With ZERO Tier Points

British Airways Executive Club just sent out a Gold Guest List-renewal package to my address in Helsinki for a membership year, during which I had credited ZERO Tier Points to the program just a couple of LATAM flights (no longer qualifying).

This is per BA’s status extension policy that I believe that they need to roll out for at least an additional year due to all the travel bans in place and a limited network of BA flights.

Henley Releases Its Most Latest Passport Strength Index

Henley & Partners, whose primary business is to facilitate cash & investment-based citizenship for those with “troubled” travel documents, have released its latest global Passport Index in cooperation with IATA.

You could argue that the index is mostly useless for the next 12 to 24 months when most of the borders are staying closed, or you need various proofs of vaccination, Covid-19 tests, or extensive quarantines.

UK Adds India To The Red Countries (Mandatory Hotel Quarantine)

The UK (England) has added India to the RED list of countries where arrivals by non-citizens and residents are banned.

All arrivals from April 23, 2021, at 4 AM, must go through a 10-night hotel quarantine at a government-approved facility. The UAE is also still on the RED list.
